The Founder/Executive Director
The founder; Richard kofi Armah, who has committed his entire life to grassroot activism, decided to establish the Organization to facilitate the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals.
Many children in rural areas are finding it difficult to go through their basic education due to financial constraints.Despite the free education being offered at the basic level in public schools, enrolment levels in schools, especially in the rural areas continue to be low. About 5% of children of school going age are not in school, threatening the achievement of the United Nation's Millennium challenge Goals of Education for all by 2015.African Calabash Volunteers' mission in the education sector is to sponsor the education of the underprivileged.World Vision has been supporting our child sponsorship and women empowerment programmes.Aside the volunteering activities of the organization,African Calabash Volunteer has internship in Africa programmes for international interns who want to take part in internship programmes in Ghana. Our opportunities are cost effective as compared to that of other organization. We offer low cost volunteering opportunities in safe environments because the welfare and the security of our international volunteers is our priority. We place volunteers in institutions such as schools and hospitals to provide social services. ACV organizes workshops, seminars and other public lectures for volunteers who wish to educate the public on certain social issues.
