The place of volunteer in Africa Agric programme in rural development -
The main occupation in the rural areas in Ghana is Agriculture.Without it there is pratically no other means of sustenance in such areas.Volunteer in Africa Agric programme is encouraging rural people to produce enough for their own consumption and also to create surplus for sale to outside markets.Through the volunteer in Africa programme, rural people are given the necessary support to advance beyond the subsistence level in order to benefit from good drinking water, better sanitary conditions and communications systems. In most rural areas, the people are only concerned with the production of the same type of crop or livestock without considering diversification.Volunteer in Africa Agric programme is sensitizing the local people on the need to diversify agricultural production because, diversification leads to the production of many different products for the consumer and a degree of specialization for the farmer. It also serves as a source of security for the farmer. In Ghana for example, cocoa was depended on as the sole foreigne exchange earner for a long time. But as prices of cocoa continue to decline, the resources of the country are becoming less and less.To sustain the economy the country has had to diversify by cultivating what are now termed as non-traditional crops.Similarly, when rural areas diversify their agriculture there would be increase in their earnings to improve their living conditions.Volunteer in Africa Agric programme is helping to establish agricultural extention services in the rural areas. This we believe shall have far reaching effect on the area. There will be improved agricultural practices as well as the introduction of new techniques and skills thus bringing in more prosperity. The awareness created by agricultural extension programmes exposes rural people to the need for formal education. This induces them to establish schools for their children to be given formal education.
Voluntary work In Ghana Human Right Educator
Human rights are the rights that everyone is entitled, no matter who they are or where they live.People have rights simply because they are a human being.A right is a freedom of some kind.It is something to which one is entitled to. Many people in our communities do not know all their rights. The duty of the voluntary work in Ghana human right educator shall be to educate people about the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which contains the thirty rights to which all people are entitled.
Eleanor Roosevelt, the woman who led the committee that created the Universal human right document, stated that "where after all,do universal human right begin? In small places, close to home-so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world.Yet they are the world of the individual persons, the neighbouhood he lives in;the school or colege he attends;the factory;the farm or factory where he works.Such are the places where every man, woman, and child seeks equal justice, equal opportunity, equal dignity without discrimination.Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere.Without concerted citizen action to uphold them close to home,we shall look in vain for progress in the larger world".Like Eleanor Roosevelt and many others, you can make a difference.
We invite you to take part in our voluntary work in Ghana human right education campaigne to educate people on their human rights, in a house to house campaigne with local volunteers.

Volunteer Vacation In Ghana Cultural Programme
The people
Ghanaians are always ready to have visitors. We are very friendly people. It is our custom to make visitors welcome. In the olden days, every house wife made sure that some food was always left in the house. This was done so that anytime a visitor came he would have something to eat.A special calabash, clean bed sheet and towel, cups and pomade were always kept in the house for any visitor to use.In the past a wife could lose her husband if she did not receive visitors nicely. We receive a visitor with a warm handshake. Then we give him a seat.We give a visitor some water as a sign of welcome.
The culture
In Ghana we usually eat with our fingers. We do not eat with our left hand and we do not rest the palm of the left palm on the ground when we eat.In most part of Ghana we do not sing when we have a bath.We do not whistle in the bath either and we do not wash ourselves in the bath from our feet upwards. Also, we receive things from people with the right hand not the left hand. Then too we do not sweep the house at night. We do not touch a broom in the night either.

Most volunteers who volunteer in Ghana express their love for certain Ghanaian dishes .Unfortunately for these volunteers, they are unable to prepare these local dishes when they get back to their home countries.Volunteers who take part in the volunteer vacation in Ghana cultural programmes are trained to prepare local dishes like banku with palm nut soup and fufu with groundnut soup.As a volunteer vacation in Ghana cultural participant, you will also learn how to dance some African dances like the adowa and the kete dance.
