In our Traditional African Society, we welcome guest by giving them water contained in a Calabash.Since water symbolizes life, the Calabash is considered as a container of life in our communities. An African Calabash Volunteer is a Calabash in the community, because he or she gives up some of his/her time, knowledge and funds to support the underprivileged .African Calabash Volunteer, as a Charity,is registered with the Department of Social Welfare of Ghana.African Calabash Volunteer is working to promote the welfare of the needy people in the rural communities in Ghana.
The African Calabash Volunteer (ACV) was founded by Richard Kofi Armah. The founder, who has dedicated his life to grassroots activism decided to establish the organization to facilitate the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals.
